Job Reflection
What I did in my job shadow was interviewing a forensic technician. The forensic technician was Sergeant Chris Douglas from the Tulare county sheriff’s department. I visited her December 18 of 2015. I pick this care because I had figured that forensic technician was something that I wanted to do and I have that career in my mind for 2 years seeing so many videos and information it motivated me to job shadow this career. When I went to my job shadow sergeant Douglas had showed me around the office that she works in. She had her workers introduce themselves to me and explain what each and one of them did in that field even herself. She then introduced me to the equipment she uses for this career and actually let me test them. She told me in detail how her days works out when she goes to a scene of a crime. She also mentions the days she worked and how it can interfere with social and personal issues.
What I learned is that they work in holidays and that they can be on call on any day. I ask her if she has time to spend with her family members or even have a peaceful vacation without worrying about work and she replied with that work was there 24/7. So it did affect her social and personal life which I did not enjoy hearing. That is what I did not like what so ever. She had
told me you had to be patient in her job because her job had to wait for other investigators to get into the scene of the crime it made realize that I do not see myself in this career. As I said in the previous paragraph I did not enjoy job shadowing this career because it takes away your personal/ social life. Also I think if I were to be in that job I would hate to go in every day. So I think it’s time to look into other careers so I can go into college ready to study my major.
